What is labour

 What is labour?

This can be defined as all human effort put into production. It is also defined as human mental and physical exertion in the process of production.

Types of labour

1. Skilled labour: this are type of labour that use there mental effort productive activity. They Are mostly called white collar job.

2. Unskilled labour: this are type of labour that works with physical effort or strength in labour, they are mostly called brown collar jobs. Note:- they require little or no formal education.



Characteristics of labour.


1. Labour is mobile :- labour can move from one place to another both geographically (from one place to another) or occupationally (from one job to another).

2. Labour has feeling:- labour can not be use anyhow, his consent must be seek before it is used in production.

Service is The state of being subordinate to or employed by an individual or group. Services also involved in doing something for the consumer which could be personal or indirect services. 

Types of services

1. Direct service: these are service rendered for direct consumption and are paid directly by those who enjoy the services. Those who involved in  direct service are; housemaid, babers, steward, entertainers and lot more...

2. Indirect service: this are service rendered to the general public, but they are not paid for by the member of the public directly. The government pay them from taxes and levies paid by the public.

Those who involved in indirect service are; doctor, soldier, civil servant, law maker and lot more..

What is commerce

 What is commerce?


Commerce can be defined as all the activities involved in the distribution and exchange of good and services. commercial made it possible for produced goods to reach the final consumer.  Is also the process of buying, selling and distribution of goods and services.


What is Commercial occupation


This are people involved in distribution and exchange of goods and services produce by the industrial sector.


Example of industrial workers are:

1. Advertisers

2. Bankers

3. Traders

4. Importer

5. Exporter


Types of commercial occupation

1. Advertising: this is the process of providing information about the existence of a product to the potential buyers. Advertising create awareness for the product.

2. Banking: this occupation include people who assist others to have money for their daily needs. They also provide capital for those embarking on industrial activities and saving facilities. Eg; Bankers.

3. Trading: this is the activity of all people engaged in buying and selling of goods and services. 

Note: people who engaged in trading activities within a country are wholesaler and retailer, while foreign trade involved importer and exporter.


4. Importing: To bring goods in from a foreign country, especially for sale or trade.


5. Exporting: to export goods to a foreign country for sales or trade.

what is industry

Industry consist of the activities geared towards the production of goods through extraction, manufacturing and construction. It can also be defined as the visibility of labourer in production of goods or changing of raw material into finished or semi finished goods.

Example of industrial occupation are;

1. Extraction
 2. Manufacturing
 3. Construction 

 Example of industrial workers are; 
1. Miners 
2. Welders
 3. Farmers 
4. Manufacturer 
5. Fishermen 
6. Plumbers 
7. Carpenters 

Note:- industry is also describe as all activities concerned with the physical production of goods, turning of raw material into finished goods.
Types of industrial occupation 

 1. Extractive occupation:- the extractive industries are those who engaged in obtaining raw material and natural resources from the soil or sea. 

Product of extractive occupation.

 Example of extractive occupation is ; framing, fishing,mining, hunting and lot more. 

 2. Manufacturing occupation:- this is concerned with the activities of changing raw material into finished goods/ product.

roadside trader are traders who display their goods along the road street or outside the gate of schools, companies, office. These kind of traders sell variety of goods,such as; book,cloth,food,snacks and lot more.
features of roadside trader.
1. operations is from a point - it is usually operate from one point,it doesn't move about.
2. display ware in stall - they display their good in appropriately in form of  stall.
3. operate low prices - the price of goods are very low.
4. stock variety of goods - different type of goods are stock in the shop.
5. found in busy road - it is normally found in a busy area both in urban and rural area.
advantage of roadside traders.
1. low price of goods - consumer can easily buy good since the price is low.
2. accessibility to travellers - goods are easily accessible to travellers.
3. it require small amount of capital - it requires small amount of capital to set up.
4. it stock variety of goods -it stock different types of goods for easily accessibility by consumer.
disadvantage of roadside traders.
1. goods are in limited quantity - most of the goods stocked are limited because the operation is in small scale.
2. goods may be wasted - most good stock may not be easily sold, some may expire or waste due to low patronage.
3. high cost of rentage - the cost of rentage may be high, as the result of this the the profit of the trader may reduced.

Mobile shop can be define as a system whereby goods are arranged in a motor van and are moved from one place to another to reach the final consumers. Goods can be move from one place to another in lorries, wheel barrow, bicycles, motor vans and motor bikes to sell goods.

           CHARACTERISTICS OF MOBILE SHOP.

1. Play audio music to attract customer - mobile shop do advertise their goods through music or ringing of bell to attract customers.
2. Use of motor van as advertising board - They easily advertise their goods by print on the body of the motor van.
3. They can reach many customers - they can reach many customers because they are mobility.
4. Use special motor van - they make use of special motor van which carry the vendor and their goods from one place to another.
5. Deal in limited range of good - they deal in limited range of good based on the capacity of the motor van.

            ADVANTAGE OF MOBILE SHOP.
1. Increase in sales because they move from one place to another.
2. It can seek customer everywhere because of their mobility.
3. Inability to return good - goods sell to customer are cannot be easily returned since they move from one place to another.
4. It operates low - mobile shop because it deals on a wide range of goods is able to sell at low price to customer.
5. It stock variety of good - mobile shop vendors can increase their sales because of their ability to reach many places.

      DISADVANTAGE OF MOBILE SHOP.

1. Exposure to thieves - cash of sales may be lost to thieves during the period of sales.
2. High cost of maintenance - high cost of maintaining the business may end it.
3. Motor van may damage - a breakdown of the motor van might be the end of the day business to the mobile shop vendor.
4. irregular supply of good - due to continuous movement of the mobile shop, supply of goods is always irregular.
